The Board of Directors of the Welland Downtown BIA is pleased to announce the appointment of their new Executive Director, Alexis Higginbotham effective June 3rd.
A Welland resident, Alexis has a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Brock University as well as a Graduate Certificate in Public Relations from Niagara College. She brings nearly two decades of experience in communications as well as planning and executing meaningful, high quality special events – primarily as a Manager at Peninsula Lakes Golf Club.
Her volunteer work has included working with the Welland Chamber of Commerce and the Welland Canal Corporation. Board members see her skills in team leadership, training, administration, and relationship building as being important assets for the Downtown BIA.
Alexis says, “I’m excited to begin my new venture as Executive Director of the Downtown Welland BIA. I’m looking forward to working with the membership to develop opportunities that highlight and strengthen the downtown core. I want to contribute to my hometown’s success!”
In her spare time, Alexis enjoys spending time with family and friends and attending playgroups with her golden doodle Zara.
Alexis Higginbotham replaces former Executive Director Amanda MacDonald who has moved on to a new position as Executive Director of the Oshawa BIA.
